SC stays Zahoor Watali’s bail order | KNO

Supreme Court on Friday stayed Delhi High Court order granting bail to Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmed Watali. An official said that Zahoor Ahmed Watali who was yesterday granted a bail from Delhi’s High Court in alleged militant funding case.

However, Supreme Court today stayed on bail order and his next petition hearing has been kept on Septemeber 26. Watali, a businessman by profession has been charged with waging war against the nation and one of the 12 accused in 2017, in “militant-funding case”.

Yesterday High Court had ordered Watali to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 2 lakh besides submitting his passport. The stay order from Supreme Court came on today. Watali was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 17, 2017, for his alleged role in a militant-funding case.

He has been lodged in Tihar jail since his arrest. According to reports, Watali was questioned by NIA regarding incriminating financial transaction details and property-related records seized during the searches on his residence.
